Alaa Ezz

Dr. Ezz has worked in the socio-economic development, environment, trade and investment fields for over 25 years during which he has designed and implemented a host of projects in the Mediterranean and Arab regions. These regional projects encompassed civil society; industry, agriculture, environment & sustainable development, investment promotion, technology transfer, trade liberalization and promotion, renewable energy and utilities, networks and information technologies, training, and media. After ten years ending up as regional director for North Africa and Middle East in the United Nations Trade and Technology Promotion System, followed by seven years as president & CEO of EnviroEgypt SAE the lead infrastructure and utilities corporation in the region, he is presently the Executive president & secretary general of the Federation of Egyptian Chambers of Commerce. On the public side, Dr. Ezz is the Secretary General of the Confederation of Egyptian European Business Associations, the Egyptian-German Business Council, and the Association of Enterprises for Environmental Conservation, the largest environmental business NGO in the Middle East; Board member of The Association of Mediterranean Chambers “ASCAME”; the chief advisor to the chairman of the Federation of Egyptian Industries “FEI” and the chairman of the Egyptian Automobile Manufacturers Association “EAMA”; the executive board member of the German Arab Chamber of Industry and Commerce; board member of the MENA Investment Promotion Committee; the Coordinator of Al-Ahram Regional Press Institute; and managing editor of Environment Today & Economy Today Magazines and Terra Viva newspaper.

Kostas Giotopoulos

Assistant Professor at the Department of Management Science and Technology of the University of Patras in 2020 with subject “Information Systems in Management and Economy”. He worked as a Computer & Informatics Engineer in Research and Development IT projects, co-financed by the European Commission (IST Projects) and as a Project Manager in Regional Development projects, co-financed by the European Commission and specifically for the Prefectural Development Company, the Prefecture of Achaia and the Region of Western Greece. Then, he was the General Manager of the Prefectural Development Company of the Region of Western Greece and coordinated all the co-financed projects of the Company. His research field is related to the use of Information Systems in Management and Economics, Intelligent Agents, Computational Intelligence Techniques, Artificial Intelligence and Semantic Knowledge Representation for the development of intelligent systems in the fields of e-learning, and retrieval of information and content online. He has got more than 15 years of experience in positions of Administrative Responsibility as coordinator and scientific manager of proposals and projects of European & National Programs.

Emanuele Cabras

Graduated in Political Science and MBA, he is a free-lance professional working on fundraising, project designing and project management for public and private bodies addressed to projects funded by European Funds and other donors. He has a long experience as CEO and Managing Partner of consultancy companies located in the Euro Mediterranean area and East Europe. Currently Director of COOPFIN S.p.A., financial institution specialised on Microcredits, Equity and Business Services addressed to cooperatives. President of OpenMed, no profit organization working in the field of cultural, social and economic cooperation projects in the Mediterranean basin. He carries on training and research activities and deep relationships with university and other centres of research.

Gianfranco Fancello

Associate Professor at DICAAR – Department of Civil Engineering Environment and Architecture at University of Cagliari; his courses  are “Transport Freight and Supply Chain” (in co-teaching) and “Evaluation of Transport Projects” (Degree Laboratory) for Civil Engineering. He is General Manager of Centralabs, Centre of Excellence in Trasport of Sardinia, a consortium of companies with Universities of Cagliari and Sassari and several public and private companies in the transport area. Since 1992 he has been carrying on research activities  about  interaction between  land use and transport, human factors related to active and passive transport safety, maritime transport, freight and supply chain. He is a scientific coordinator and technical director of several national and international research projects. He is the author of 5 books and about 80 papers. He has worked with  several public administrations and some private companies for developing projects and plans in the field of transport, traffic and mobility.

Patrizia Serra

Research Fellow at the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and Architecture at University of Cagliari (Italy). She holds an MSc degree in Transport Engineering from the University of Cagliari and in 2014 she received her PhD in Transportation Economics from the University of Palermo (Italy). Her main research interests are in Maritime Networks Design, Land and Maritime Logistics, Sustainable Transportation Systems, Reverse Logistics, Decision Support Systems and KPIs for transportation management, Transportation planning, and Human Resources Optimization for port systems. Her research appears in several case studies, books and peer-review international journals. She has been working on several European and cooperation projects as responsible for the technical project management and providing her technical-scientific support in project design.

Carlo Perelli

Associated Researcher at CRENoS, University of Cagliari and University of Sassari, Italy. After an interdisciplinary MA in Mediterranean Studies between Venice, Montpellier and Madrid he received his PhD at The School for Advanced Studies in Venice  Foundation,  for  a  thesis  on  the  implementation  of  sustainability  policies  in mass tourism coastal destinations. His interests are in tourism geography, planning for tourism, Integrated Coastal Zone Management (ICZM) and Tourism Carrying Capacity Assessment (TCCA) mainly in Sardinia (Italy), Morocco and Tunisia. Recently he has been working on tourism development in Morocco and Tunisia with a focus on heritage policies and halal tourism as product diversification strategies. In parallel to research activities he has been participating as a consultant in several EU-funded projects focusing on tourism in the MENA Region and notably on the following themes: ICZM and TCCA; water management in coastal destinations and heritage tourism.

Anna Maria Atzeni

Studied civil engineering in Cagliari (I) and graduated cum laude in2002. Until 2013 worked mainly as free-lance engineer. Since 2010 CasaClima energy consultant and Environmental Acoustics Technician. In 2012 obtained the 2nd level Master CasaClima at the Free University of Bolzano – FUB (I). 2013- 2015 PhD student at the FUB (I), 2015 visiting scholar at the Lyles School of Civil Engineering della Purdue University (West Lafayette, Indiana, USA). In 2016 PhD in Sustainable Energies and Technologies. From 2016 to 2018 worked as research fellow and contract lecturer for the Master of Energy Engineering at the FUB. 2018-2019 collaborated with Solarraum studio in Bolzano. From 2019 joined the Research and Development Department at Agenzia CasaClima as responsible for the sustainability protocols ClimaHotel, Welcome and Work&Life. Attended as speaker to several national and international conferences (ATI, BSA, BS, IHPBC), published in peer-reviewed journals (Science and Technology for the Built Environment, Energy and Buildings, Journal of Energy Engineering, Energy Procedia) and in professional journals (AiCARR journal, neo-Eubios, CasaClima2Gradi).

Andrea Marchesini Reggiani

Graduated in Philosophy and Education Sciences, after teaching a few years in secondary school, in 1995, he founded the Lai-momo cooperative. Immigration, social and intercultural communication are the main work areas of the cooperative, of which he is now the President. He is part of the editorial board of the Africa e Mediterraneo Journal and has managed several cultural cooperation projects with Africa, particularly in the fields of communication and comics. In 2013 he founded the Abantu cooperative, specialized in job inclusion services for migrants and cultural and linguistic mediations.In 2017, he founded Cartiera, an ethical fashion project born from the collaboration between EFI-Ethical Fashion Initiative – International Trade Center UN, which creates connections between small artisanal realities in South Countries and high fashion brands. Cartiera is focused on environment and social sustainability and on international cooperation, recovering secondary raw materials and giving them new life according to the principles of the circular economy.

Carlo Sanna

Master’s degree in publishing, multimedia communication and journalism with thesis dissertation on “Migration flows in the mediterranean sea” and another international master’s degree in “Advanced methods and tools for sustainable planning”, held by HIT Harbin Institute of Technology (China) and the University of Sassari (Italy) with thesis dissertation focused on “Citizen Participation in the Urban Governance.” He has wide experience in the field of immigration, citizen participation and social sustainability after several years spent as Reception Coordinator Camp for Asylum seekers. In addition to this, he has several years of experience as project coordinator related to sustainability development and governance, and citizen participation and support networks in local sustainability initiatives. He currently holds positions in project management actions financed by Erasmus Plus and regional programs: MACCARD (Master in Climate Change, Agriculture and Rural Sustainable Development); DigiTrans Hub (Digital Transformation Hub of Rural Europe); Fluorosis, application of innovative methods and socio-economic analysis for the drinking water in East Africa; Public:Start Public Entrepreneurship as a Response to Complex Challenges.

Fabrizio Floris

Degree in Economics, chartered accountant and auditor. Several years of experience in financial and management of projects financed by the European Union. Worked about 6 years as financial officer of the ENPI CBC MED program and several years as auditor in different programs (FESR, Interreg Italia Francia Marittimo). He currently holds positions in project and financial management for actions financed by the ENI CBC MED, FSE, FSC and other programs.

Claudia Sedda

Graduated in 2007 at the Faculty of Political Science at the University of Sassari (Master of Science in Publishing, Multimedia Communication and Journalism). In 2009 she obtained a Master’s Degree in Law in European Integration and Local Government (Faculty of Law, University of Sassari and Université de Corse Pascal Paoli) and also attended intensive masters in Project Management in Cagliari and Brussels. From 2012 to 2014 she worked as Project Manager at the Municipality of Belvì (Youth in Action, Europe for Citizens and LLP Programmes) and at the Rural District BMGS LAG (Measure 4.2.1. Transnational Cooperation-EAFRD). In 2014 she founded Eurobridge, an individual company specializing in European Projects Management that she legally represents. She has been living in Gavoi, Sassari, Paris, Viterbo and Malta, where she had the opportunity to collaborate with the NPA “Immigrazione Oggi” and AWAS (Agency for the Welfare of Asylum Seekers) in the implementation of three European projects co-financed by the EIF and ERF funds. Skilled in Youth Policies, Citizenship, Immigration and Culture.

Nicola Nieddu

Degree in Political Sciences, MBA and Master in European Project Planning and Management. Several years of experience in the design and management of projects financed by the European Union. As public sector consultant, he has worked for several years in the field of services development, institutional capacity building and human resources training. He currently holds positions in project and financial management for actions financed by the ENI CBC MED, Horizon 2020 and Erasmus+ Programs: BESTMEDGRAPE – New Business opportunities & Environmental suSTainability using MED GRAPE nanotechnological products; TECHLOG – Technological Transfer for Logistics Innovation in Mediterranean area; conect4children – Collaborative Network for European Clinical Trials for Children; MACCARD – Master in Climate Change, Agriculture and Rural Sustainable Development.
